Movie Mania

I know, I know. I suck. I've been absent. And in all honesty, I've been absent from reading too, so for what it's worth, I've had very little to contribute to the Geekiverse.

Except that New Moon was fab. Way less, "this is so bad it's good," than Twilight and way more, "this might actually be a decent movie sans frolicking barefoot at the end." The best part of seeing it at midnight Thursday night, though, may have been going to the 9 p.m. Twilight showing, being able to walk in 20 minutes before Twilight started, get great seats (albeit in a sold out house), have time to piddle and get me some poppycorn and wait for New Moon not outside in the Michigan winter, oh no, but indoors, warm, and entertained with food. This = brrrrilliant. They did NOT make us leave the theater in between performances, though we could go out and get MORE poppycorn and piddle again (hey, it required a LOT of caffeine to keep me awake for a midnight show on a weeknight, okay?). And the even bester best part? The fact that they showed not one, not two, but three, count 'em, three New Moon trailers before Twilight. Epic.

I also recently listened to The Lightning Thief, the first of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books. They're a nice light read, and I preferred reading them to listening as the narrator was kinda crap at voices, plus you can whip right through them. I'm encouraged to see, though, that the movie version looks as if it will also be fun. Here's hoping!
